Other Community Projects

Through its civic initiatives and thousands of volunteer hours, the Club remains an integral part of the community and of Talbot County’s history. The Club’s accomplishments are wide ranging and continues to enhance the beauty of the community around us.

Current community projects that occur annually include:

Wreath Making

Each year in early December, members of The Talbot County Garden Club and their guests come together at the Easton Volunteer Fire Department to make wreaths and garland for buildings around town. This has been a holiday tradition of the Talbot County Garden Club for over 30 years.

The wreaths and garland are located at various community buildings around Easton including the Talbot County Courthouse, Talbot County Free Library, the Easton Fire Department, Easton Utilities, and others.   It is a fun day for all!

Meals on Wheels

In conjunction with Wreath Making, Talbot County Garden Club members provide 100+ holiday “Greens and Gifts” arrangements to Meals on Wheels recipients in the community. The beautiful, hand made arrangements add a touch of holiday sparkle to the homes of seniors who need a little extra help and disabled people who are unable to prepare adequate meals.

Meals on Wheels, a project of the Talbot Senior Center and the Upper Shore Aging, Inc., provides nutritional home-delivered meals, at cost, regardless of income, to qualified home bound seniors (60 years or older) and the disabled.

Garden Therapy at Hospice House

The Community Garden Therapy Committee reaches out to our community to provide a little cheer to those in need. Flower arrangements made by our members are delivered at holidays regularly to residents at Bayleigh Chase and Talbot County Hospice. We also provide advice and planting help in the gardens of these and similar facilities. In addition, the Committee holds several flower arranging workshops at these facilities led by our talented floral designers providing creating entertainment and uplifting arrangements for the residents.

Support to the Veterans Cemetery

Each year many members of Talbot County Garden Club generously contribute to ͞Wreaths Across America and attend the ceremony at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, Maryland, to lay wreaths at the grave sites of our nation’s veterans.
